Climate Change Technical Support: Strengthening Youth Leadership on Climate Actions and Advocacy in Nepal

Plan International Nepal, a child rights and gender equality organization, focuses on empowering marginalized children and families. Their current Country Strategy aligns with the “Girls Standing Strong” initiative, which aims to equip girls to lead and make informed decisions in a changing climate. Prakriti Resources Centre (PRC), a leader in sustainable development and climate justice, offers expertise in climate policy, finance, and resilient development practices. PRC works with civil society, government, and the private sector to build awareness and capacity on climate change. Recognizing the urgent need to address climate change, Plan International Nepal has sought PRC’s technical support to enhance the resilience and impact of its interventions, particularly those targeting children’s rights and gender equality. The partnership will support in integrating climate actions into Plan International Nepal’s programs and influencing works, build capacity of Plan International Nepal’s staffs and partner organizations, and position Plan International Nepal as a key actor in climate networks and groups. By leveraging PRC’s expertise, Plan International Nepal can ensure its initiatives are climate-informed and sustainable, ultimately contributing to resilient and equitable future for children and girls in Nepal.

Objectives:

The overall objective is to build on Strategic Partnership between Plan International Nepal and PRC for strengthening youth leadership on climate actions and advocacy in Nepal. Other objectives include:

  • To support in designing and executing youth-led campaign and influencing works on climate change in Nepal, focusing on Global Goal on Adaptation and Loss and Damage.
  • To build the capacity of Plan International Nepal’s partner organizations to better mainstream climate actions and advocacy in their programmatic interventions.
  • To strengthen Climate Action Network South Asia (CANSA) works and activism in Nepal.
