Climate change is already disrupting education, livelihoods, and communities across Nepal, and young people are among those bearing its greatest impacts. With 46.1% of Nepal’s population aged 16–40 and 78% of youth aged 15–24 reporting disruptions to their education due to climate change, the need to bring youth voices into climate decision-making has never been more urgent.
But young people are asking for more than a seat in the audience. They want meaningful participation, decision-making power, green jobs, climate finance, youth-led adaptation, and a stronger role in shaping Nepal’s climate future.
As LCOY Nepal 2026 brings youth from across all seven provinces together, the question is not whether young people have something to contribute—they clearly do. The question is whether decision-makers are ready to listen, act, and give them a real seat at the table.
