The project, builds on the achievements of the Multi-Actor Platform (MAP) for 100% Renewable Energy initiative implemented by Prakriti Resources Centre (PRC) in Nepal. The prior project, supported by Bread for the World, WWF, and the World Future Council, successfully engaged over 2,000 stakeholders in climate and energy discourse through 59 events, 10 research initiatives, 11 publications, and 7 pilot projects focusing on areas such as irrigation, drinking water, and electric cooking. Despite these accomplishments, several challenges remain.
The project seeks to fulfill the gaps of issues such as limited dissemination of knowledge, insufficient sustainability planning for the MAP platform, lack of widespread awareness about Just Energy Transition (JET) and its socio-economic benefits, especially among vulnerable communities by fostering multi-stakeholder engagement, promoting electric cooking, and advocating for gender-responsive and inclusive policy-making. It aims to contribute to Nepal’s commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2045 and ensuring a sustainable, low-carbon future.
